Fire Safety Technician – NBCUniversal Join NBCUniversal as a Fire Safety Technician. This full‑time position is based at an NBCUniversal‑designated worksite and supports our studio operations.

Salary Range $65,000 – $80,000 per year. Actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

What You’ll Do

Perform general fire safety inspections of all occupancy group classifications, proactive building inspections, and fire inspections for brush abatement and document findings.

Enforce and maintain fire safety policies and procedures for studio operations.

Inspect and evaluate buildings and job sites and issue permits for Hot Works operations.

Perform Hot Work job spot checks, document results, and conduct Fire Watch duties as assigned.

Use and train others in the use of a Thermal Imaging Camera.

Assist with maintenance and notifications on Fire/Life Safety system impairments as required by FM Global.

Assist with the supervision of testing and certification program for all building fire/life safety systems and document process and findings.

Perform fire safety permit inspections for issuance of special permits.

Inspect public displays and gatherings and document findings and recommendations.

Attend classes, seminars and conferences to remain abreast of all current codes, ordinances and best practices in fire prevention, fire safety and the motion picture industry.

Investigate cause and origin of fires and recommend policies and procedures to remediate dangerous conditions and document fire hazards.

Maintain records, files and documentation to ensure compliance with local jurisdictional and company requirements. Prepare reports as needed.

Function as a member of the studio Disaster Response Team and-or Emergency Operations Center team as required.

Provide fire prevention and safety education to large groups, employee fairs, or other special events.

Work nights and weekends as required.

Qualifications

Communicates with ease

– Written and verbal communication skills.

Safety Guru

– Extensive experience developing and building safety, compliance, training and testing programs.

Tech‑savvy

– Proficient in MS Office and case‑management software.

Deep knowledge base

– Familiarity with governing and authoritative codes and compliance requirements.

Executer

– Strong business acumen, analytical skills and superior organizational skills to manage competing priorities.

What You Must Have

2+ years of experience in a municipal or industrial fire prevention organization.

1+ years of work experience with knowledge of fire protection systems and equipment.

1+ years of work experience with basic fire chemistry and physics and extinguishing techniques.

What Could Set You Apart

California State Fire Marshal Certified Firefighter I.

California State Fire Marshal Certified Fire Prevention Officer.

California State Fire Marshal Certified Fire Safety Officer.

Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and operations personnel.

Creative problem‑solving skills.

Experience in a corporate environment.

Prior motion picture or television studio experience.

Working knowledge of International Building Code and California Fire Code, and all related NPFA Standards.
