MercyOne Dyersville Medical Center is a 20‑bed critical access hospital serving 17 rural communities in western Dubuque County, offering Emergency/Trauma, Acute and Skilled Care, Rehabilitation Services (PT/OT/Speech), Ambulatory Surgery, Home Care, and Specialty Clinics.
As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide direct, safe, culturally‑competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. You will use evidence‑based practice, critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome‑based care for a diverse patient population, including post‑operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. You will supervise and coordinate care by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members, and facilitate communication with physicians, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
Essential Functions
Conducts assessment
Identifies patient problems and develops plan of care
Implements outcome/goal‑based plan of care
Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal‑based plan as needed
Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
Demonstrates clinical competence
Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable
Provides care appropriate to the age‑related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit
Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, and other policies and procedures to ensure ethical and professional behavior
Schedule
PRN status
RNs work 12‑hour shifts
Day shift: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm; Night shift: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am
Unit self‑schedules; schedules are 6‑week blocks
Minimum RN Qualifications
Associate degree in nursing required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Iowa
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire
Minimum LPN Qualifications
The Licensed Practical Nurse must hold an active license to practice nursing in the state of Iowa
Graduation from an approved program for practical nurses is required
The Licensed Practical Nurse must maintain continuing education units per the state licensure requirements and pursue opportunities to enhance professional nursing practice
Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended
Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter
