About the Role As a
Central Processing Aide , you play a vital role in keeping patients safe every single day. You’ll be responsible for cleaning, inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment used throughout the facility — making sure everything that reaches the operating room or patient care area is safe, functional, and ready to go.
This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in doing things the right way, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and understands that behind every clean instrument is a patient depending on it.
What You’ll Do
Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize instruments and equipment according to the manufacturer’s instructions for use (IFU)
Maintain and restock supplies to ensure departments have what they need for patient care
Keep accurate records for sterilization and quality assurance processes
Communicate effectively with nurses, surgical techs, and other team members to support daily operations
Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a strong attention to detail
Work independently while managing time and resources efficiently
Take on other duties as needed to support safe, smooth department operations
What We’re Looking For Education:
Post–high school training or specialized education required; Central Processing course completion preferred
Experience:
Preferred one (1) year of experience in Central Processing, Surgery, or a similar environment.
Skills
Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities
Comfort working in a busy, high-stress environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work effectively with a diverse team and patient population
Certifications Preferred:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
