Position Overview Under the direction and supervision of the program director, the Pathways to Success Therapeutic Mentor will provide youth with positive role modeling to help them learn better social skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving strategies, or daily living skills. Therapeutic Mentors will model positive ways to interact with other children and adults in the community to assist the youth with developing healthy relationships and social confidence. Therapeutic Mentors help children and teenagers build on their strengths while working in collaboration with the child’s family and their clinical team to achieve a specific skill‑building goal.

$40,500-$45,500

Essential Functions
Assist youth with developing positive social skills with other children and adults
Assist youth with skill building to improve communication, emotion regulation, and healthy relationships
Improve youth’s connection and engagement within the community
Educate, model, and motivate youth to increase community involvement
Support youth and family during crisis times
Focus on a strength‑based approach
Assist youth in self‑advocacy
Identify and provide information about program‑enrolled youth’s needs and strengths
Build natural supports
Set goals, design, implement, and evaluate program outcomes
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team
Submit timely Medicaid mental health billing
Provide timely documentation and reporting under Trinity Services standards
Participate in weekly team meetings
Travel within the community to provide family and youth support
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural competency, and experience with diverse populations
Strong self‑motivation
Strong communication skills
Teaching skills, non‑judgmental personality, and empathic listening skills
Basic computer skills for documentation and report writing
Physical Demands
Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
Operate motor vehicles
Use hands, fingers, and computer keyboard frequently; sometimes stoop or kneel to install equipment
Perform physical activities such as driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license in Illinois
Attend initial and ongoing required training (provided on site)
