General Statement of Duties The building inspector is responsible for the enforcement of the building codes and ordinances.

Review applications and plan review for building permit issuances & compliance.

Perform code and Российской interpretation.

Assist the Building Official with updating the code reference for review letters.

Conduct on-site inspections throughout the various phases of construction to ensure compliance with code and ordinances.

Document and file all violation notices or stop work order and in the proper format.

May be required to appear in court to present testimony regarding code and ordinance violations.

Assists the public (including homeowners, developers, licensed builders, architects, and engineers)

Answers proficiently inquiries regarding code and ordinance requirements.

Qualifications Four (4) years of experience in building construction

Must be Michigan License Act 407 Building Inspector, or be able to obtain this license from the State of Michigan within 6 months of employment.

Must have knowledge and experience with the Michigan Building Code

Must have knowledge and experience with the Michigan Residential Code

Michigan Driver’s License

General Computer skills

Knowledge of BS & A

Technical courses related to building construction, code enforcement, architectural engineering, and construction-related experience.

Work Effectively with the public

Prefer: Commercial Building, Zoning, & Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector
