SUMMARY
Weekend premium pay
Weekend only position.
Cares for patients before, during, and after angiography, interventional, angiographic cardiac catheterization procedures including pre‑procedure assessment, pre‑medication, documentation of cath process, post‑cath care, patient education.
Assists other members of the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
RESPONSIBILITIES
(35%) Performs nursing care of the catheterization/angiography, Interventional Radiology, EP, Neuro and Vascular patient population.
(35%) Operates equipment: cardiac output, hemodynamic, pacemakers/ICDs, intra‑aortic balloon pump, etc.; transfers patients, stocks supplies, performs basic office procedures.
(15%) Learns sterile technique, can gown and glove, open and set up sterile trays, products.
(15%) Records all pertinent information on appropriate data sheets and within EMR.
Assists in other radiology/cardiology procedures as needed; performs clinical functions as needed.
Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Windows; may participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
BLS: Basic Life Support (within 1 month of hire or transfer).
ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 1 month of hire or transfer).
RN: Registered Nurse (qualification source MI).
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Associate degree.
Preferred: Bachelor degree in nursing.
OTHER INFORMATION
Knowledge of critical care nursing normally acquired through 2 years of experience in a Medical Center or similar setting.
Electrophysiology skills obtained through at least 1 year experience in electrophysiology lab environment required.
Interpersonal skills to communicate successfully with individuals and groups, and to convey ideas and concepts clearly.
Knowledge and operation of intra‑aortic balloon pump.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex or appropriate substitute.
Can move freely around facility with or without assisted device; must perform job functions as outlined.
Requires vision and hearing, with or without assisted device.
Frequently required to sit, stand or walk for long periods; may need frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material; must follow testing requirements.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance, stay awake.
Requires dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, feeling; may require repetitive movements.
Physical Demand Level: Medium – occasional lift of 21‑50 lbs, frequent lift of 20 lbs, constant load of 10 lbs.
