Sports Coach will lead the facility's youth (and some adult) sports offerings, including leagues, developmental classes (ages 3-8), after-school/home school programs, clinics, camps, private/semi-private trainings, sports performance sessions, and birthday parties. The Sports Coach at AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk is responsible for coaching and developing athletes in various ice sports, such as hockey, figure skating, or speed skating. This role involves designing and implementing training programs, providing instruction and feedback, and fostering a positive and competitive environment for athletes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques to a wide range of athletes, individuals and groups Develop and implement training programs tailored to the skill levels and goals of athletes Conduct on-ice and off-ice training sessions, focusing on technical skills, tactics, and physical conditioning Teach fundamental and advanced techniques in the specific ice sport Monitor, evaluate, and enhance athlete performance and needs Provide suitable feedback via positivity, encouragement, examples, and motivation Demonstrate an activity clearly by breaking down the task or technique into a sequence Remain friendly and courteous with athletes, parents, and team members Identify athlete strengths and areas for development Ensure a safe environment for all athletes Implement the curriculum in an accurate, creative, positive, and efficient fashion The Ideal Candidate
Coaching licenses (or active pursuit of) preferred Familiarity with contemporary coaching methodology Neat in appearance and professional in manner and communication Inspiring confidence and self-belief Required Skills & Experience
At least 2 years of appropriate coaching or teaching sport experience in youth programs for athletes of various aptitudes Proven experience as a coach or in a related role, with a strong background in the specific ice sport (hockey, figure skating, speed skating, etc.) Ability to demonstrate and participate in on-ice activities Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills Team player Excellent communication skills Willingness to work a flexible schedule, predominantly after-school and weekends Must possess current CPR/FIRST AID certifications, or willingness to obtain within a specified period Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Must be able to move or lift lightweight equipment Work is performed in an ice arena environment, which includes cold temperatures and varying noise levels Position requires standing and activity for extended periods of time (indoors or outdoors), squatting, stooping, jogging, or bending into awkward positions while performing job functions
