The Little Clinic . Under the day to day direction of the on-duty nurse practitioner/physician assistant, the general purpose of the patient care technician (PCT) position is to maximize patient flow through the clinic while providing a stellar patient experience. Responsible for performing all the appropriate administrative tasks, including electronic health record (EHR) documentation, in accordance with company policy. Our clinics are staffed by board-certified nurse practitioners or physician assistants, licensed practical nurses, and patient care technicians who work as a team to provide high-quality, affordable healthcare in convenient retail settings. Provide administrative tasks including EHR documentation in accordance with company policy to maximize patient flow and ensure a stellar patient experience. Support clinic operations under the direction of the on-duty clinician (nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment and ensure HIPAA compliance in front-desk and clinical areas as applicable. Assist with patient check-in, registration, and queue management; respond to front-d desk inquiries and coordinate with providers as needed. Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs and patient history, and document data in the EHR as required in designated clinics with completed competencies. Provide information to patients about registration, wait times, services, and payment methods; answer phones and handle daily patient callbacks per policy. Perform basic administrative tasks related to admissions, referrals, and specimen handling as directed. May assist the provider within approved company protocols to obtain specimens and report results as directed by the provider on duty. Travel to designated clinics if assigned as a float. Minimum qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Basic computer skills Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills with high attention to detail Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction) Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, team-based environment Excellent customer service, organizational, and task-management skills Desired qualifications
Any previous experience in retail, customer service, or healthcare Knowledge of infection control practices; assist in maintaining a safe, quality-based, survey-ready healthcare environment as required to maintain Joint Commission Accreditation Greet customers or potential patients in the front area Clean and organize the clinic space daily, manage supplies, and disinfect equipment Provide front-desk questions guidance and direct questions related to scope of services Utilize patient queue, appointment tools, and patient kiosk systems to manage waiting room flow Complete registrations and verify patient identity using government-issued ID Determine payment methods, collect payments, and log in the EHR; collect insurance information as applicable Scan documents or alert the provider if scanning is incomplete; accompany patients to exam rooms and verify chief complaint Obtain and document vital signs and patient history; follow clinic flow and competencies Provide waiting patients guidance on wait times and services Support off-site events as needed Assist with weekly supply orders for provider approval; prepare and mail laboratory specimens as required If float: travel to designated clinics within the geographic area Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation Seniority level
