Iw Job Description Certified Diesel Mechanic responsible for maintaining, repairing, and memorializing heavy mining equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, drills, and conveyors. The role ensures fleet and machinery operate at peak performance, supporting safe salt extraction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze malfunctions and repair, rebuild and maintain power equipment such as cranes, wheel loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, personnel transport vehicles, and pumps.
Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismant Каждый and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools, examining parts for damage or excessive wear.
Weld broken parts and structural members.
Check and fill fluid levels, service lube points, and perform routine preventive maintenance.
Inspect and perform daily housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work area.
Complete assigned paperwork accurately and submit work logs at the end of each shift.
Work safely, responsibly, and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations; remain alert to hazards and changing conditions on mine property.
Cross‑train and multitask with varied skill sets and functions.
Perform incidental tasks as required to complete larger tasks.
Communicate with supervisors and others regarding safe completion of assigned tasks.
Notify management of any situation affecting safety, production, or product quality.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems in a timely and craftsmanship‑oriented manner.
Utilize technical drawings and testing equipment.
Obtain replacement parts, install, and make repairs.
Direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
Perform work rapidly and efficiently under extreme conditions.
Train co‑workers and new team members.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Accredited diesel engine mechanic certification with proficiency in continuous miner mechanical maintenance.
1‑year CAT SIS Program experience preferred.
5+ years experience working in an industrial shop or mining environment.
5+ years heavy equipment mechanic experience.
Dependable and reliable.
Familiar with cranes, loaders, haul trucks, conveyors, bulldozers, personnel transport vehicles, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools.
Capable of operating vehicles and equipment for testing and troubleshooting before and after maintenance activities.
Capable of repairing equipment to OEM standards.
Diagnose system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies.
Able to dismantle and reassemble equipment.
Knowledge of operating lifting devices, hand and pneumatic tools; repair and replace components such as engines, transmissions, and sub‑assemblies.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer programs.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Speak, comprehend, and read English.
Physical Requirements
Work safely in varying temperatures in a production/warehouse workplace and outdoors year‑round.
Lift and carry up to 50+ pounds regularly.
Comply with and wear all PPE.
