Role Description This is a full-time role for a Construction Project Manager working out of our Buffalo Grove (IL) Headquarters. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating various construction projects from inception to completion. Daily tasks include project planning, resource allocation, scheduling, expediting materials, inspections, logistics management, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. The Project Manager will also collaborate with various stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and team members.
Project Planning & Execution
Manage all phases of commercial construction projects including pre-construction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and work plans
Review and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications
Lead project kickoff meetings and ongoing coordination meetings
Ensure scope, schedule, and budget alignment throughout the project lifecycle
Budget & Cost Management
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost reports, and cash flow forecasts
Review subcontractor bids, negotiate contracts, and issue purchase orders
Track project costs, approve invoices, and manage change orders
Identify cost‑saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance
Schedule Management
Create and maintain project schedules using scheduling software
Monitor progress and implement corrective actions to address delays
Coordinate sequencing of trades to ensure efficient workflow
Communicate schedule updates to stakeholders
Prequalify, select, and manage subcontractors and suppliers
Ensure subcontractors comply with contract terms, safety policies, and quality standards
Resolve subcontractor performance issues and disputes
Conduct regular site meetings and inspections
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary liaison between the owner, design team, and construction team
Provide regular project status updates, reports, and forecasts
Manage client expectations and address concerns promptly
Participate in design coordination and value engineering efforts
Quality Control
Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and industry standards
Conduct regular site inspections and quality reviews
Coordinate testing, inspections, and punch list completion
Ensure timely project closeout and delivery of as‑built documents
Safety Management
Enforce company and regulatory safety policies (OSHA or equivalent)
Promote a culture of jobsite safety and accountability
Coordinate safety meetings, training, and incident reporting
Address unsafe conditions immediately
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and contract requirements
Manage permits, inspections, and regulatory approvals
Document and resolve claims, disputes, or legal issues as needed
Preferred Qualifications
2-3+ years of experience managing commercial construction projects
Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and regulations
Proven experience managing budgets, schedules, and subcontractors
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience with large‑scale commercial projects (e.g., office, retail, healthcare, industrial, hospitality, or mixed‑use)
Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, LEED AP, or OSHA certification
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
Experience with design‑build and/or CM‑at‑risk delivery methods
