Registered Nurse, Outpatient Services (PRN) – National Park Medical Center
Location: Hot Springs, AR
Join us as a Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Services unit, providing direct patient care on the Pre‑op/Post‑op unit using the nursing process with high‑quality outcomes. The role reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
Position Summary Provides direct patient care on the Outpatient Services, Pre‑op/ Post‑op unit using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Communicates effectively with the care team and the patient/family to support safe, high‑quality outcomes.
Essential Functions
Performs plan‑of‑care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
Coll aborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
Assesses learning needs and delivers age/culture‑appropriate patient/family education.
Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
Participates in performance improvement and required continuing education.
Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may take on‑call assignments.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Information Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, kneeling; rare running or climbing. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Licensure & Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred.
Skills: Critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; proficiency navigating multiple clinical software systems; effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand); ability to complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
