Position Summary This position is responsible for performing mechanical engineering work related to the integration of power generation equipment in customer projects in connection with Project System Business.

Key Accountabilities

Work on project design and development for new or existing products.

Manage the overall PSB scope and site/building integration.

Design walk‑in enclosures and housings for generator sets, KPP, BESS, or other systems as needed.

Define system requirements with clients and coordinate engineering for ventilation airflow design, including static pressure calculations, sound attenuation, and exhaust, fuel and water piping in accordance with industry codes and standards.

Develop complete PSB scope from initial ideas to onsite delivery of systems.

Manage customer requirements and design scope changes.

Verify and confirm manufacturing drawings, P&I diagrams, schematics, data sheets, and similar drawings for compliance with design specifications.

Research and analyze requirements from various engineering standards, contracts and proposal documents.

Prepare engineering calculations and drawings in accordance with applicable codes; utilize industry standard/Rolls‑Royce Solutions America standards.

Prepare and finalize equipment specifications for major equipment.

Select effective design concepts and fundamental technology for new products or improvement of existing products.

Review and compare customer specifications against MTU designs and equipment vendor proposals.

Lead or participate in bid leveling exercises on vendor proposals with purchasing.

Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices.

Follow RRSA procedures per the company’s quality system.

Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and spirit of the Rolls‑Royce Code of Conduct.

Advise and mentor associate engineers.

Perform special projects as required.

Act as liaison between sales, internal engineering, project management, and vendors.

Create and deliver effective presentations to executive management and site teams.

Review control systems and schemes.

Basic Requirements

Applicant must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Application Engineering, Combustion Engineering or Automotive Engineering and 5 years of mechanical engineering experience with design, field service, application, sales or manufacturing engineering; or 9 years with the same experience.

Willingness to travel for business trips up to 30%.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of design and system capabilities.

Excellent applied knowledge of reciprocating internal combustion engines used in genset applications, including exhaust treatment technologies.

Strong ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

Strong ability to read and interpret P&I diagrams and manufacturing drawings.

Fundamental knowledge of AC and DC electricity.

Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings such as single line diagrams and point‑to‑point drawings.

Experience in mechanical systems control systems.

Strong initiative and independent work ethic.

Strong problem analysis and resolution at both strategic and functional levels.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and present conclusions to management.

Strong computer skills: MS Office, BIM360, drafting tools, CAD software.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Social skills: Dependability, Versatility, Flexibility, Team orientation.

Commissioning, testing or site inspection experience.

Computer skills: SAP, Windchill, Creo, MS Project, collaboration tools.

Control systems, PLC, parameter changes.

Consulting engineering in MEP or structural capacity.

Professional Engineer license [any state].

OSHA 30 certificate or ability to complete online training within 60 days of start.

Location: Mankato, MN

Pay Range: $90,985 – $136,477 per annum
