Associate Dean and Chair, Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy The University of Southern California and the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy invite applications and nominations for the

Associate Dean and Chair, Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy.

The Chair is an accomplished leader responsible for elevating and integrating the tripartite missions of a top‑ranked academic physical therapy program—research, education, and clinical practice—amidst evolving landscapes of science, innovation, technology, and collaboration. They will work to foster innovative care delivery models, expand clinical services throughout the Los Angeles region and beyond, and accelerate high‑caliber translational research efforts. The Chair is responsible for financial performance and sustainability of the Division, including identifying supplemental revenue streams (such as fundraising) to support the Division’s mission. This individual is expected to attract, retain, and engage high‑caliber and diverse faculty, staff, and trainees to sustain the caliber and achievements of the research, teaching, and clinical programs that support the Division’s stellar national reputation.

Ideal candidates are nationally recognized scholars and leaders familiar with the evolving fields of biokinesiology and physical therapy—and the impact of new technology, changing demographics, and dramatic reorganization of the healthcare environment. They must be able to build effective partnerships within the Division, across other health sciences departments, schools, and the broader USC community. A leader as much as a manager, the Chair must be a consensus builder and an agent of change, with a passion for excellence and a commitment to creating an environment that advances the mission through shared decision‑making and a dynamic, integrated, academic and clinical delivery model.

Founded in 1945, the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy is committed to continuous learning and innovative solutions to enhance human health and quality of life. It remains a national leader in physical therapy education, consistently ranked among the top programs by U.S. News & World Report.

The University of Southern California is a world‑leading private research university. As an anchor institution in Los Angeles—a global center for arts, technology, and international business—USC offers extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary study and collaboration with leading researchers. With seven health sciences programs and schools, USC’s health sciences campus and the adjacent Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center provide ample cross‑discipline collaboration.

USC is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
