Job Description Douglas County Courthouse, Omaha—4th Judicial District. The Judicial Branch is a state‑funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state‑matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more.

This classification level performs a variety of high‑level support/clerical tasks that require exceptional attention to detail of work processes to promote effective and expeditious decision making, by the appropriate authority, of the following: wills, special administrations, estates, guardianships, and conservatorships. Responsible for the review and acceptance of electronic and over‑the‑counter filings for permanent record, case assignment, file assembly, and entry of case information into court software. Responsible for the monitoring and reviewing for case progression timeline compliance. Prepares notices, correspondences for probate hearings, as well as additional correspondences, as instructed by the Judges and/or Judicial Administrator/Clerk Magistrate. Performs other clerical tasks such as answering phone, processing mail, receipting money, and performing other general office duties.

Job Duties

Provides customer service to internal and external customers, which includes answering phones and greeting walk‑in visitors, responding to requests for information from staff and/or the public, and answering routine questions.

Performs clerical tasks, which includes review and acceptance of electronic and over‑the‑counter filings; collecting fees and other payments; receiving, processing, sorting, filing, and/or distributing a variety of correspondence, materials, billings, payments, deliveries, mail, and drop paperwork, and other applicable documents.

Enters information into applicable court databases and/or other computerized systems to collect and maintain court records and information in assigned area of responsibility and process court motions/filings.

Receives and processes, utilizing exceptional attention to detail, to promote effective and expeditious decision making of all cases associated with probate filings which includes but not limited to estates, wills, special administrations, guardianships, and conservatorships.

Prepares, records, and/or maintains information, to include verifying filings and information for accuracy and ensuring appropriate corrections are completed.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in related field or High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) combined with 4 years of related experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

Physical Requirements Positions in this class work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required, not to exceed 20 lbs.

Compensation Hiring Rate (during probation):

$38,257.13 per year

Minimum Rate (after probation):

$39,213.56 per year
