Maintenance Worker II - Wastewater/Linework Crew
The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Worker II in our Wastewater Division. The Maintenance Worker II performs general labor duties including maintaining equipment, fueling equipment, unloading materials, and digging.
Essential Functions
Dig and refill trenches and other excavations; cut asphalt and concrete; maintain lawns.
Load, unload, lift and carry tools, equipment and chemicals.
Maintain and repair underground wastewater service lines, clean work areas, and perform related maintenance duties.
Transport materials and personnel to work sites.
Climb stairs and ladders; bend, stoop, push, pull, lift and carry up to 75 lbs.; may stand for more than six hours.
Require knowledge of construction equipment, materials, and work tasks.
Require ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Education & Experience Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency. One year as a Maintenance Worker is required; a preferred candidate will possess one year of maintenance repair experience.
Additional Information & Requirements Valid driver's license required.
Work Hours Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Work Location 1316 Ballentine Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia.
Essentials Position Note This is an "Essential" position which may require work nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, etc. in response to severe weather events and emergencies.
