Mechanical Engineer – Division Leader
The Opportunity
The Mechanical Engineer – Division Leader will play a key role in both technical delivery and team leadership, with clear potential for long-term growth and ownership.
Leadership & Team Oversight
Lead and supervise
2–3 mechanical engineering professionals
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight
Support resource planning, workload distribution, and team development
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design of mechanical building systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and controls
Collaborate with architectural, electrical, and structural teams on complex projects
Oversee projects ranging from small facilities to large campuses and high-value construction programs
Ensure energy-efficient, sustainable, and code-compliant designs
Manage project schedules, budgets, and client coordination
Contribute to marketing, business development, and client relationship efforts
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Professional Engineer (PE) license
or
EIT actively pursuing PE
Ability to obtain Kentucky PE licensure within 6 months (or by comity in other states)
5–10+ years of experience in mechanical design within an engineering consulting environment
Proven experience with HVAC and plumbing design on large-scale projects
Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office
Experience with lifecycle cost analysis, HVAC modeling, and simulation tools
Professional Skills
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to manage teams, projects, schedules, and budgets
Client-facing experience and business acumen preferred
Ability to work independently while leading multidisciplinary team
