RMF Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for our Boston Division. This position offers great potential for a motivated individual interested in growing their technical design expertise within mechanical and sustainable design, as well as developing leadership abilities.
Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering calculations and prepare detailed mechanical engineering drawings for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems in buildings primarily within the Higher Education, Laboratory, and Healthcare sectors. The engineer will work under the supervision of a Project Manager and senior technical staff.
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for:
Assisting in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies
Preparing engineering load calculations, mechanical system layouts, and design documentation for all project phases
Coordinating design efforts between engineering disciplines and architecture teams, performing engineering calculations, and overseeing drawing production
Performing energy analyses and applying high-performance design techniques
Preparing detailed engineering reports and narratives
Conducting on-site condition surveys
Reviewing contractor submittals and RFIs, and providing field observations during construction administration
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited institution
Experience in mechanical design of HVAC and plumbing systems for complex building projects
Proficiency with Autodesk Revit for Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
Experience with energy modeling and report/presentation development
Knowledge of energy modeling software such as IES VE, E-Quest, Ladybug Tools
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Passed FE exam or EIT registration
LEED Accredited Professional certification and experience with LEED or similar green building rating systems
WELL Accredited Professional certification
Interest and experience in sustainable, high-performance building design focusing on energy, water, carbon, occupant health, and resiliency
