Job Summary The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects ranging from small tenant improvements to large-scale commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. This role collaborates closely with project management, engineering, and operations teams to ensure bids are complete, compliant, and aligned with company profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and scope documents
Perform material takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage, and specialty systems
Analyze labor productivity, crew compositions, and project schedules
Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing
Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities
Develop clarifications, inclusions, exclusions, and alternates for proposals
Support preconstruction meetings and handoff to project management teams
Track historical cost data and maintain estimating databases
Assist with change order pricing when required
Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and project specifications
Project Types

Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience estimating electrical construction projects
Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods
Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid, Trimble, ConEst, or similar)
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Experience working with GCs, owners, and design teams
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman or Master Electrician background
Design-build or negotiated work experience
Knowledge of BIM coordination and prefabrication strategies
Data center or industrial power experience (medium/high voltage, switchgear, generators, UPS)
