The
College of Science
at the University of Utah is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant who will work closely with college and departmental senior accounting personnel to maintain and reconcile department personnel accounts. This obliged position has primary responsibility for payroll and accurate maintenance of personnel records, but will also participate in other accounting functions.

Responsibilities
Responsible for new‑hire onboarding, payroll initiation, and I‑9 processing.
Troubleshoot discrepancies and maintain accurate payroll records.
Responsible for MyTime time‑card sign‑off, transfers, and setup.
Verify check advice and accurate/timely employee pay.
Work closely with faculty and accounting to ensure correct grant effort, expenditures, and distribution transfers.
Collaborate with senior accounting personnel on other projects as requested.
Prepare ad‑hoc reports on an as‑needed basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferences
Experience in university accounting preferred.
Must be organized and able to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work independently and installeren good judgment.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus one year of related experience (or the equivalent where two years of related work experience can substitute for one year of education), is required. A thorough understanding of general ledger accounting practices, cost analysis, and accounting principles, as well as demonstrated analytical, problem‑solving, human‑relations, and effective communication skills are also required.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft or Access databases may be preferred in some areas.
