Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
Constellation Search Group is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant for a full-time salaried position. The Senior Staff Accountant will perform complex accounting and financial functions and act as a champion in utilizing the Vista Viewpoint ERP system. This role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close activities. The position demands strong analytical and organizational skills, with a focus on project accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting within a construction environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
Prepare and post complex journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications.
Maintain accurate records for billing, collections, and cash receipts, and monitor and reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and audit schedules, as well as perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and budget-to-actual analysis.
File state sales and use tax returns, ensuring proper tax calculation based on project setups and vendor invoice entries.
Manage monthly and annual close processes and collaborate with the Controller on finalizing financial statements and coordinating audit activities.
Provide oversight for job costing, variance analysis, and forecasting processes in project and cost accounting.
Prepare and review customer invoices to ensure contractual compliance, and oversee accounts receivable and collections.
Supervise vendor invoice processing, support purchasing functions, and oversee accounts payable improvements.
Oversee fixed asset accounting and coordinate with third-party accountants for asset management and audits.
Lead ERP system optimization efforts, identify process improvements, and contribute to developing accounting playbooks.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper coding and support company core values through engagement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience required.
Construction industry accounting experience with knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and WIP schedules is required.
Experience with financial statement preparation and external audit processes required.
CPA or CMA designation preferred.
Experience with electrical contracting or union construction environment preferred.
Technical accounting knowledge and proficiency with construction accounting software and ERP systems.
Advanced Excel skills and exceptional attention to detail.
