Supervising Physician shall delegate only tasks and procedures to the PA that are within the supervising physician's scope of practice or setting.* The decision to permit the PA to perform a test or procedure under direct or indirect supervision is made by the Supervising Physician based on reasonable medical judgment regarding the probability of morbidity and mortality to the patient. The Supervising Physician must be certain that the PA is knowledgeable and skilled in performing the tasks and procedures assigned.* This patient care will be performed under direct or indirect supervision as determined by the Supervising Physician and associates who are medical staff members.* Obtains histories and performs physical assessments.* Makes daily rounds of patients.* Assesses response to medications, treatments, and interventions.* Evaluates current status and complaints of patients.* Consults with and transmits information to the Supervising Physician regarding the health status of the patient.* Dictates or writes progress notes on patients seen as well as dictates discharge summaries.* Provides information and education to patient and family regarding diagnostic studies, treatments, medications, and diet.* Functions within the guidelines of the Physician Assistant Standards.* Orders laboratory tests at request of the Supervising Physician.* Orders diagnostic tests at request of the Supervising Physician.* Orders referrals to consulting physicians at the request of the Supervising Physician.* Administers and/or orders medications upon request of the Supervising Physician.* Writes admission orders for patients being admitted to Mount Sinai Medical Center upon the request of the Supervising Physician.* The following duties are only permitted to be performed under the direct supervision of the Supervising Physician.* Interprets laboratory tests, x-ray studies, and EKGs with \_\_\_\_\_ without \_\_\_\_ the Supervising Physician's interpretation and final review.* Acts as a Surgical Assistant in the Operating Room when requested.* Writes patient care order for the following, as applicable:* DUTIES UNDER IN-DIRECT SUPERVISION* Identifies problems and initiates appropriate management.* Organizes and utilizes data to make clinical assessments.* Recognizes normal from abnormal results and notifies Supervising Physician.* Provides in-service and daily consultation to Nursing.* Orders as appropriate for patients within scope of practice.* Tests as appropriate for patients within scope of practice.* Gives medication as appropriate for patients within scope of practice.* EVENING, WEEKEND & HOLIDAY COVERAGE* Takes First-call on in-patients.* Takes week-end and holiday calls on in-patient.* Maintains certification as Physician Assistant by the State of Florida.* Maintains certification as provider of Basic Life Support (CPR).* Identifies himself/herself by appropriate identification as a Physician Assistant to insure that he/she is not mistaken for a licensed physician. He/she must wear an identification badge with name and the title Physician Assistant.* Documents all tasks and procedures performed in the appropriate medical record. (The Supervising Physician must review and sign a Physician Assistant's order within 24 hours.## Qualifications* ### License/Registration/Certification
+ Florida License required, Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants desired; CPR Certification* ### Education
+ Associate Degreee with PA license; Bachelor's Degree preferred.* ### Experience
