JOB SUMMARY The Store Associate supports daily operations, including food service and retail, adhering to all GATE policies and standards. The role includes maintaining a clean, well‑stocked store and providing excellent customer service.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be of legal age to sell alcohol and tobacco products.
Must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English at a sufficient level to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Must be detail‑oriented and have strong organizational skills.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.
Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, and reach (including overhead).
Ability to work in varying and extreme temperatures.
Must possess basic reading, writing, and math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Must be able to operate a personal computer.
Ability to understand and comply with company policies and procedures relating to robberies and the safe handling of petroleum products.
DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
Work flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, adhering to GATE attendance policy.
Arrive to work on time and maintain proper attire, uniform, and appearance.
Attend required training, safety courses, and meetings.
Report safety hazards and assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
Follow and uphold federal, state, local laws, and company policies.
Use organizational skills to keep the store clean and well‑stocked.
Perform minor repair and maintenance of store equipment.
Operate cash register, money order machine, electronic lottery, safes, credit card machines, gasoline console, and emergency gasoline shutoff valve.
Handle all payments following GATE policies.
Provide excellent customer service, greet customers, answer inquiries, resolve complaints, and ensure a friendly checkout experience.
Support a positive team environment and communicate accurately with customers and staff.
Problem‑solve and de‑escalate conflicts.
Perform store merchandising tasks such as stocking shelves, pricing, arranging blocks, and placing window banners.
All other duties as assigned by Store Manager.
JOB KNOWLEDGE Basic proficiency with reading, writing, math, and computer use; understanding of company policies on safety and product handling.
OTHER INFORMATION Seniority level: Entry level.
