Director of Membership
to play a central role in this evolution. This is a highly visible, relationship-driven leadership position responsible for driving membership growth, strengthening community connections, and ensuring new and existing members clearly experience the value of membership.
This role is ideal for a sales leader who appreciates the legacy of a private club, is energized by face-to-face relationship building, and is excited to help guide a historic club forward with purpose and professionalism.
Annual Compensation: $80k + Commission
About Us Hidden Valley Country Club is the oldest private club in Nevada and has long been a cornerstone of the Reno community, with a membership that has represented a true who’s who of the region’s business and civic leaders.
Today, HVCC is under new management and entering an important next chapter with the support of Troon. The Club is focused on elevating standards, strengthening culture, and delivering on a clear vision: an exceptional golf course, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a club where neighbors become friends.
General Purpose The Membership Director directs all marketing and sales efforts related to Club membership and follows through with all sales, approval, and onboarding processes. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of membership records and systems while coordinating a seamless introduction of new members into the Club.
The Membership Director is a highly visible leadership role and serves as an ambassador for the Club—both on property and throughout the local community. This position plays a critical role in achieving membership growth goals, increasing dues revenue, and reinforcing the value and experience of membership at the Club.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and leads a strategic membership development program designed to increase total membership count and membership dues revenue.
Directs and executes all membership sales activities, including lead generation, tours, follow-up, sales approvals, and onboarding.
Assists in the development and implementation of advertising and promotional campaigns designed to generate membership sales.
Maintains an organized and accurate contact management system, including call records, databases, and activity tracking.
Prepares and delivers monthly membership sales, pipeline, and retention reports for the General Manager and ownership.
Membership Relations & Engagement
Maintains and develops strong relationships with current members to encourage participation in Club events and maintain a high level of member satisfaction.
Coordinates the introduction and orientation of new members to ensure a welcoming and professional onboarding experience.
Works collaboratively with department heads to ensure alignment between what is sold and the member experience delivered.
Assists in the coordination of Club events, including invitations, mailings, and member communications.
Community & Business Development
Actively networks with and builds relationships throughout the local community, including but not limited to:
Chamber of Commerce and local business organizations.
Corporate leaders and business owners.
Real estate professionals and community partners.
Media and tourism contacts.
Represents the Club at community events, networking functions, and Club-sponsored activities to strengthen brand awareness and drive membership interest.
Serves as a visible ambassador of the Club, promoting its values, culture, and lifestyle.
Communication & Reporting Prepares and contributes to the monthly member newsletter using input from Club departments.
Effectively communicates membership goals, initiatives, and performance with management staff and associates.
Ensures membership records, files, and related documentation are accurate and maintained in accordance with Club standards.
Education & Experience Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or
Two years of related experience, or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in membership sales, hospitality, private clubs, real estate, or relationship-based sales environments strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to represent the Club professionally and confidently in both member-facing and community settings.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and CRM/database systems.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate with members, guests, and associates.
Physical Demands & Work Environment Frequently sits, talks, and hears; regularly walks and stands.
Occasionally reaches, stoops, kneels, crouches, and lifts up to 25 pounds.
Moderate noise level; regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license required.
