The Manager, Clinical Operations position is responsible for understanding and managing the anesthesia department business operations at the Harris County Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. The role will support hospital-based clinical activities (e.g., provider scheduling, utilization of Epic data for clinical reporting and process improvement, support of the service chiefs for quality and safety and performance improvement initiatives), and provide strategic planning support for service expansion for the new LBJ hospital, a growing research enterprise, education mission growth, and the necessary administrative infrastructure to achieve success. The incumbent collaborates on managing and improving the call tracking, reporting, and payment processes for the clinical operations. They will be a key partner in developing data and reporting strategies for the department’s clinical operations and revenue cycle.

Key Accountabilities
Partners with the service chiefs of the department’s hospital based clinical services to manage the business operations of department programs, including compliance, scheduling, and supervisory responsibilities. Collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders across the department’s hospital-based clinical operations areas on workflow-related projects and scheduling, optimizing the hospital-based clinical operations program for an effective and efficient program.
Assist in the development and ongoing reporting of performance metrics and benchmarking related to provider scheduling, effort, and utilization, keeping our leaders and key constituents informed of our progress towards business goals. Manage timely flow of business intelligence information to users by meeting deadlines and being responsive to requests.
Provides strategic planning support for service chiefs and the department DMO, to meet the growth objectives of the partner hospital, and departmental growth objectives of the research and education missions. Participates in quarterly update meetings with Harris Health LBJ leadership.
May advise on financial and business processes, create business policies and procedures, and provide project management of the department-related tasks related to program expansion. The incumbent collaborates clinical leaders, medical staff and ancillary departments, for effective and efficient clinical operations. Supervises administrative staff to achieve objectives. May supervise some ancillary clinical staff.
Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Healthcare or in a related field required. Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum Experience Five (5) years of related experience required. Experience in an academic or healthcare administration setting preferred.
Physical Requirements Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
