Auto Warehousing Company has been in business since 1962 and is the largest full-service auto servicing and processing company in the nation. AWC provides a variety of services for auto manufacturers, including loading and unloading new vehicles onto railcars, installing accessories, body repair, and general vehicle inspection and processing. Job Summary The Yard/Shuttle Associate Driver duties include moving vehicles for processing and prepping cars for release to rail or haul‑away carriers, moving vehicles from staging areas to shipping bay locations, washing vehicles, and conducting Pre‑Delivery Inspection (PDI) to ensure quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
Move vehicles to processing and release to rail or haul‑away carriers.
Move vehicles to shipping companies and consolidate vehicles to make room for other vehicles.
Drive vehicles from lots to shops to shipment areas.
Wash and fuel cars; perform basic accessories installation for the accessory shop.
Perform clean‑up tasks such as breaking down cardboard.
Ensure vehicles are available for work, parked in proper locations, and yard quality standards are maintained.
Follow all safety guidelines and attend safety meetings.
Identify vehicles and insert documentation as required.
Inform leads or managers of significant departmental issues.
Log processed work into computer program or tracking system.
Meet or exceed established production and quality standards.
Read and match VIN numbers quickly and accurately.
Perform visual verification that vehicle is damage free.
Work as part of a team and maintain daily clean‑up.
Notify supervisor of any workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.
Participate in facility safety efforts and attend monthly safety meetings.
Understand and uphold company safety and other policies.
Upkeep and maintain work area.
Perform other duties assigned by lead or manager.
Work Schedule
Shifts: Monday to Friday, including Saturday/Sunday as needed (no exceptions).
Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (with overtime possibilities).
Qualifications
Current valid driver’s license with good driving record (no more than 2 moving violations in the past 12 months and no more than 3 in the last 3 years).
Ability to drive both standard and automatic automobiles and pass driver’s safety test at 80% or better.
Able to hold 35–40 pounds and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Good visual and auditory ability.
Strong communication skills; can function effectively under pressure and work as a team.
Ability to read and understand location cards, work orders, purchase orders, purge sheets, SDS, and other documentation.
Ability to read and match numbers quickly and accurately.
Confidentiality of work documents and conversations.
Work in a safe manner and understand safety procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Adhere to strict production and quality standards without variance.
Communicate diplomatically and handle interpersonal interactions effectively.
Judge distances accurately.
Pass driver’s safety test at 80% or better.
Drive standard and automatic vehicles; lift 35 pounds.
Write, read, and comprehend basic English.
