Description The candidate should have experience working with large-scale piping, valve, pumping systems, and treatment technologies. The candidate must also be self‑motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible remote work schedule is available if needed. Ideal candidate will sit in the Midwest or Southeast Region due to the amount of projects in those areas.
Duties
Provide technical planning, biological process and mechanical design and construction support on various water and wastewater treatment and resource recovery projects, including combined sewer overflow, collection systems, pump stations, stormwater projects, hydrologic and hydraulic models, and other water and wastewater projects.
Prepare engineering calculations, run process models (e.g., Excel, Biowin, GPS‑X), and support analysis of alternatives.
Prepare technical memoranda documenting alternative analyses, basis of design, business case evaluations, P&ID reports, and other related outputs.
Prepare design reports and construction plans for treatment plants and pump stations using local and state standards.
Assist with specifications and permit submittals.
Assist with review of scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks.
Monitor task budget and progress.
Document design changes and communications.
Conduct on‑site inspections and provide technical guidance for start‑up as needed.
Prepare project status and other reports.
Assist in the preparation of proposals.
Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre‑construction, etc.
Maintain strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent client relations.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Publish and present papers at state and national conferences.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
At least 5 years of experience working on Water Resource projects, including large-scale piping, valve, pumping systems and treatment technologies
Expertise in conventional activated sludge wastewater treatment (liquid and solid processes), nitrification and denitrification systems, phosphorous removal, secondary and tertiary treatment, high‑rate disinfection systems, solids handling and biosolids treatment
Process modeling expertise using Biowin, GPS‑X, or similar software
Ability to handle project documents and drawings
Bonus
10 or more years of experience
PE License (additional)

Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, MI.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 – $70.00 per hour. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
