Position Overview The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.

Duties

Serve as the Geospatial Technician (Survey) for the Walla Walla District.

Perform Surveying and Mapping services.

Utilize Computer‑Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), advanced modeling, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Create contract specifications, Architect‑Engineer (A‑E) service contracts, contract drawings, scope of work, government estimates, negotiate contracts, and conduct field data collection and reduction.

Support large, multi‑functional civil works projects during the planning, design, construction, and operation phases.

Surveying licensure and/or training is highly desirable and should be mentioned within resume if attained (e.g., Land Surveyor Intern (LSI), Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT), surveying related education or training).

Conditions of Employment

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Incumbent must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions.

Requires a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.

Will be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Work involves regular field work with physical exertion.

Exposure to hazards and conditions at construction sites or large hydropower projects is regular and recurring.

Must submit a copy of transcripts with application package if qualifying based on education.

Qualifications U.S. citizens. Must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work through National Service programs or other organizations.

Education Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization that specializes in foreign education interpretation to be deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.

Experience

GS‑07 Specialist Experience: One year of specialized experience involving learning theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of fundamental surveying of field data collection.

GS‑08 Specialist Experience: One year of specialized experience applying theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of fundamental surveying of field data collection.

GS‑09 Specialist Experience: One year of specialized experience applying theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of fundamental surveying, including basic topography or Unmanned Aerial Surveying.

GS‑10 Specialist Experience: One year of specialized experience applying theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of surveying with an emphasis in topographic surveying or Unmanned Aerial Surveying.

GS‑11 Specialist Experience: One year of specialized experience applying theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of surveying as they relate to topographic, Unmanned Aerial Surveying techniques, and public land surveying.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Salary Range: $49,960 – $96,116.

Management may select at any of the grade levels announced.

Non‑competitive promotion potential to the target grade.

Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.

Hiring incentives such as a recruitment/relocation bonus, service credit for leave, and student loan repayment may be authorized (subject to available budget).

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) expenses may be authorized (subject to available budget) if the selecting official determines the relocation is in the best interests of the government.

Position is eligible for situational telework.

Position is covered under the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) Bargaining Unit.
