Job Description The Assistant Professor of Veterinary Medicine is a full‑time position responsible for teaching, research, and service in the field of veterinary medicine, particularly clinical and surgical skills. They shall have the primary responsibility of teaching in pre‑clinical and live animal surgical courses and shall be held accountable for the teaching obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Department.
Required Qualifications
A DVM or equivalent degree
Eligibility for licensure in the state of Florida
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree, training, and/or specialty board certification in related field
Experience in an academic setting
Veterinary clinical experience

Job Duties
Develop and deliver graduate courses, classes, and laboratory sessions in clinical skills and other courses as assigned.
Create learning videos, handouts, and presentations to enhance student learning in alignment with the curricular objectives.
Establish and maintain goals and objectives for each course lecture and laboratory session.
Meet classes according to published schedule.
Uphold high standards of intellectual integrity and academic excellence in all teaching activities. This includes ensuring that course content is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant.
Maintain up‑to‑date records of student grades, evaluations, and performance.
Provide feedback to students on their progress and performance.
Prepare examination questions that accurately assess student understanding.
Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and activities.
Ensure compliance with the standards and guidelines of accrediting bodies such as SACS and AVMA.
Complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of University programs.
Develop an area of scholarship that enhances teaching and generates new knowledge. Collaborate with other faculty members on interdisciplinary research projects and grant applications.
Scholarly activity is expected of all faculty members. Evidence of interest and experience in research is an asset but not required for this position. Mentorship in research activity will be provided.
Engage in community outreach and education programs related to veterinary medicine and animal health.
Collaborate and foster working relationships with animal shelter partners, peers, other colleges on campus, and external partners and stakeholders to attain the college’s and university’s goals and objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
