Work Schedule: Flexible schedule (Mon‑Fri). This is a restricted classified part‑time position. The position will work approximately

20 hours per week .

The Work‑Based Learning Instructional Designer (Part‑Time) "Restricted" will support a grant‑funded project aimed at creating an innovative program for high‑school students in the region. This program will expand access to dual enrollment students with career[sic] development skills and quality work‑based learning opportunities.

Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Responsibilities

Attend and participate in project team meetings, in person and virtual.

Oversee the development of the work‑based learning modules in collaboration with the Business Engagement and Career Services team, local school systems, SDV committee, and other stakeholders as appropriate.

Develop SDV modules to include lesson plans, learning materials, worksheets, support materials, and assessments that incorporate work‑based learning components.

Ensure the new modules align with the Virginia Community College System’s (VCCS) Standards of Learning.

Provide ongoing review and revision in response to feedback from secondary and higher education constituents.

Provide professional development and training for teachers and staff who will implement the new modules.

Create age‑appropriate and subject‑specific course materials to enhance access to education and workforce opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

Demonstrated ability to create learning modules that can be delivered through a Learning Management System, such as Canvas.

Knowledge of current theory and practices regarding curriculum research.

Ability to develop lesson plans to be implemented in the classroom.

Ability to maintain a professional demeanor respectful of diversity and multiculturalism.

Strong writing and organizational skills.

Demonstrated instructional design abilities (lesson plan sample required).

Knowledge of work‑based learning best practices.

Minimum Work Experience

Experience in developing teaching plans or training programs for high‑school or college level students.

Experience teaching or advising students at the high school or college level.

Experience teaching the Student Development (SDV) course, or equivalent.

Experience collaborating across different stakeholders.

Additional Considerations

Experience providing career and professional development advising or coaching.

Experience grant implementation or management.

Experience teaching high school or college level courses.

Experience teaching the Student Development (SDV) course within the VCCS system.

Location and Eligibility Employees must reside in Virginia, Maryland, or District of Columbia.
