Academic Hourly - Department of Finance
Prof. Julia Fonseca at Gies College of Business and Prof. Lu Liu at the Wharton School at the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign are seeking an Academic Hourly worker to assist with textual analysis of a large dataset. Ideal candidates have strong skills in programming, data processing, and natural language processing.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and implement algorithms to extract insights from unstructured text data.
Clean, visualize, and analyze data.
Help summarize and draft findings.
Minimum Qualifications
B.A. or master’s degree in computer science or closely related field.
Proficiency in Python.
Extensive experience with NLP techniques and libraries.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science or closely related field.
Familiarity with SQL and large‑scale data processing tools.
Familiarity with data visualization techniques.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Appointment Information Part‑time academic hourly position with flexible scheduling. Expected start date: as soon as possible after 1/16/2026. Wage: $18 per hour. No sponsorship for work authorization available.
