Job Summary

Location MDH Dorchester County Health Department 627 Race Street Cambridge, MD 21613
Main Purpose of Job Supervise and oversee social work and counseling services in the behavioral health outpatient program; Make recommendations for the maximum utilization of existing services and for additional or expanded services; Assure the quality of those services through staff development and supervision.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.
Experience: Six years of clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting after receiving an approved Master’s degree in Social Work; at least two years directing a clinical services program or unit or supervising Social Workers with Master’s degrees.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications Experience in substance use disorder treatment.
Licenses, Registrations and Certifications
Licensed as a Certified Social Worker-Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service; when the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health Testing Unit.
Drivers license for duties that require the operation of an automobile.
Selection Process Applicants who meet the minimum and selective qualifications will be included in further evaluation. The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position.
