Join Our Team as a Locum - Physician - Hematology Oncology (Pontiac, MI)
Are you a dedicated Hematology Oncology physician looking for a rewarding temporary opportunity to make a meaningful impact? We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Locum Physician to provide outpatient hematology and oncology care in Pontiac, MI. This vital role offers the chance to support a healthcare facility during a recruitment gap, ensuring patients receive continuous, high-quality care. In this position, you will deliver outpatient clinic services on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, including participation in clinic call as needed. You will work within a collaborative environment supported by experienced oncology RNs, medical assistants, social workers, dietitians, and nurse navigators, utilizing the Cerner EMR system. The practice setting involves managing 15-20 outpatient cancer patients daily in a well-established oncology and hematology clinic, including infusion services, onsite CBCs, and tumor board participation.
Required Skills: Proven experience in hematology and oncology outpatient care Proficiency in managing hematology and oncology procedures Ability to participate actively in tumor board meetings Strong communication and interpersonal skills Comfort with outpatient EMR systems, specifically Cerner Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Basic on-call competency for clinic coverage
Nice to Have Skills: Previous experience in similar outpatient oncology and hematology settings Certification in Oncology or Hematology Experience with infusion centers and onsite diagnostic procedures Familiarity with scheduling and managing patient care workflows
Preferred Education and Experience: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and Oncology Minimum of 2 years of outpatient hematology/oncology practice experience
Other Requirements: Valid medical license to practice in Michigan Participation in clinic call as scheduled Reliable transportation to and from the clinic location Willingness to start on January 19, 2026, for a period lasting until July 31, 2026 Covering a recruitment gap, supporting full patient care continuity
