About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director for R&D Communications to lead the global scientific and R&D communications strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the narrative of the company's scientific story, from discovery to clinical development, and research innovation. This pivotal role involves serving as a strategic advisor to senior R&D leaders, overseeing thought leadership on R&D innovation, and ensuring message alignment across various teams. The Executive Director will also be tasked with building and leading a high-performing R&D communications team, fostering a culture of collaboration, scientific literacy, and storytelling excellence. Key responsibilities include internal and external engagement, managing PR agency partnerships, and developing metrics to assess the impact of communication strategies.

Applicants for this role at the company should have a Doctorate, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for a PhD in a biological or biomedical science discipline. A minimum of 6 years' of managerial experience in corporate affairs or scientific communications is required, with a strong preference for candidates with over 15 years' of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in translating complex scientific information into accessible narratives, advising on scientific communication, and managing communication around data, publications, and clinical milestones. Leadership skills in a global, matrixed environment, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic setting are essential.
