Civil Foreman
Position Location: Toano, VA (open to regional travel)
Pay: $28.00/hr – $36.00/hr (based on experience)
Job Summary: We are currently looking for an experienced Civil Foreman to join our Heavy Civil team at our I-64 Gap C project. The candidate will focus on heavy highway work, dirt work, grading, concrete, and transportation. Experience in heavy civil construction, understanding of blueprints, and dimension analysis is required. The foreman will aid in managing grade crews, operators, and heavy highway operations, assist the superintendent, and lead crews on project tasks. Proficiency with computer programs (Excel, Heavy Jobs, Microsoft) and ability to work independently are essential.
Education and Experience Requirements
HS Diploma or GED preferred (basic reading and writing skills).
3+ years experience running crews; experience with heavy highway and/or bridge construction.
Foreman experience in heavy highway construction, computer abilities, and leadership abilities.
Travel: Toano, VA, with openness to regional travel.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises, coordinates, and directs crew in grading and dirt related tasks for entire project.
Develops and/or assists in development of production schedule and implements work assignments to meet production schedules.
Assists in developing a weekly schedule and sequences activities for road building crews and finishing operations.
Maintains all records required concerning production, safety, attendance, time worked by crew members, personnel matters, etc.
Ensures timely completion of work assignments within estimated costs while maintaining quality workmanship.
Ensures safety of crew members, conducts all operations per company and government safety rules, and develops positive safety attitude via weekly Planning Meetings.
Monitors compliance with Company policies, issues disciplinary action as needed under supervision of superintendent or HR.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
Continuous standing and walking required throughout scheduled shift.
Must be able to climb ladders, bend, squat, kneel, and crawl occasionally.
Must perform fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
Must reach, lift, and perform work above shoulder height; work on uneven surfaces and confined spaces.
Requires acceptable corrected vision and hearing.
Must work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid weather.
