Supervises the daily operations of Traditional Summer Day Camp. Plans, conducts, and leads activities while interacting, and maintaining safety and supervision of participants and team members in a recreation program environment. This position is responsible for creating an environment that promotes a positive and team atmosphere. Work is performed under general supervision with exercise of judgment in accordance with established policies, procedures and techniques.

Camp Details

Camp Site: Indoor/Outdoor setting

Work with camp participants ages 5–14

Work Hours: Monday–Friday with occasional weekends and holiday

Experience

Must be 17 years or older with 2 years of related work experience.

Preferred experience in a lead or supervisory position.

Supervision

Responsible for supervision of program participants.

Responsible for supervision of program team.

Responsibility

Manages and supervises the complete daily operations of the Recreation Program including but not limited to activity planning, team training, scheduling, and supervision of all camp participants and team members.

Oversees the conduct and behavior of program participants and ensures safety of participants.

Maintaining, understanding, and adhering to Participant records to ensure health/safety/allergy/behavior/etc. needs are followed per parent/guardian requests.

Works cooperatively with other team members to meet program goals.

Creates an environment that promotes sportsmanship and team atmosphere.

Adapts classes, programs and workshops to student age, physical ability and interests.

Makes modifications to classes, programs and workshops to accommodate individuals with a variety of disabilities.

Maintains records and provides data to program personnel as required.

Responsible for facility cleanliness, appearance, and maintenance requests.

Ensures safe and proper use of equipment and materials.

Selects, stores and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies.

Communicates team expectations and requirements; leads team meetings. Acts as liaison between the Recreation Program Coordinator, program staff, participants, and parents.

Keeps daily inventory of all program equipment, office or cleaning supplies, and snacks and report to Coordinator any items needed.

Operates city vehicle to transport program personnel and participants to and from program facility.

Ensures program personnel submit hours worked in ESS.

Acts as liaison between the Recreation Program Coordinator, program team, participants, and parents.

Performs other job-related tasks as required.

Qualifications

Ability to follow oral and written directions

Ability to instruct participants in diverse activities

Ability to communicate effectively with team, program participants and parents

Ability to represent the youth program and City of Round Rock with professional and positive behavior

Ability to create positive work/program atmosphere

Ability to adhere to policies and procedures

Certifications

Must possess current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain during training.

Preference for a valid Texas driver’s license.
