Construction Quality Control Inspector – Heavy Civil

Starting Pay Range:
$28–$32 per hour (depending on experience)
Native Sun is hiring a Construction Quality Control Inspector to support heavy civil, underground utilities, and public infrastructure projects in and around Grand Junction, Colorado. This internal QA/QC inspector role focuses on field inspections, quality control, and documentation to ensure work meets plans, specs, CDOT standards, and municipal requirements before city or third‑party inspections.
Key Responsibilities
Perform internal quality control inspections on heavy civil and underground utility work (earthwork, trenching, pipe installation, manholes, concrete).
Verify work against drawings, specifications, and CDOT / municipal standards; document and help resolve nonconforming work.
Track daily quantities, production, and materials for accurate billing, pay applications, and project reporting.
Coordinate with other project administrators, city, CDOT, and third‑party inspections, including scheduling and follow‑up items.
Maintain detailed inspection reports, daily field logs, and organized project records. Work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and field crews to resolve quality issues in the field and represent Native Sun professionally with inspectors, owners, and agencies.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of field experience in heavy civil construction, underground utilities, or public infrastructure (water, sewer, storm, roadway).
Knowledge of construction inspections, QA/QC, quantities, and basic construction documentation.
Comfortable working as a field inspector on active job sites and completing documentation in the office.
Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail; experience on CDOT or public works projects is a plus.
Willingness to travel to local job sites and work overtime as needed.
