What To Expect We are looking for a skilled Fire Protection Technician to join our team at GFTX in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire alarm systems, as well as other fire protection systems such as sprinklers and special hazards equipment. The technician will ensure that all systems are compliant with local codes, regulations, and company standards.
What You'll Do
Install, inspect and configure fire alarm, special hazard, and water‑based suppression systems and components within the facility, ensuring they meet all safety and regulatory requirements.
Repair, replace and service fire alarm, special hazard, and water‑based system equipment as needed.
Assist with Fire Marshal final walks and commissioning of fire alarm, special hazard and water‑based suppression systems.
Conduct quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual inspections of all fire systems per NFPA and IFC standards.
Accurately complete service reports, inspection forms, and maintenance logs, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Bring
3 years of experience in the installation, maintenance and service of fire alarm, special hazard and water‑based fire suppression systems.
RME‑I, FAL and FEL required.
RME and NICET certifications are preferred, but not required.
Proficient in fire alarm system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and basic knowledge of fire sprinkler systems and special hazard equipment.
Proficient in understanding the programming aspect of fire alarm systems; Notifier certification preferred.
Proficient in sprinkler pipe fitting and familiarity with special hazard equipment solenoids, actuators, and pressure switches.
