Position Summary The Nurse Manager of Pain Services Line provides strategic nursing leadership for the organization’s procedural pain continuum, with direct oversight of the Special Procedures Department and clinical support and integration for the Pain Center and affiliated Ambulatory Surgery Centers. This role functions as the clinical authority, safety steward, and service line integrator ensuring standardized practice, regulatory compliance, performance optimization, and physician partnership across all procedural pain settings.
The Nurse Manager does not provide direct supervisory management of clinic or ASC staff but serves as the clinical governance leader supporting nursing practice, safety, quality, competency, and workflow integration across those settings.
Essential Leadership Accountabilities Service Line Clinical Governance
Provides clinical governance for procedural pain nursing practice across Special Procedures, Pain Center, and ASC environments.
Leads standardization of clinical pathways, sedation practices, documentation standards, and procedural safety workflows.
Serves as the clinical authority for policy development, practice alignment, and care standardization across all pain service locations.
Supports leadership teams in clinical integration and escalation management.
Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Stewardship
Serves as service line regulatory steward for CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission Physical Environment standards, National Performance Goals, AAAHC standards, OSHA, and applicable state regulations as they relate to procedural pain services.
Leads readiness efforts and tracer management for accreditation and regulatory surveys across procedural pain care settings.
Supports medication safety, moderate sedation compliance, infection prevention practices, and procedural safety standards across the pain continuum.
Leads service line QAPI initiatives, event review, and performance improvement strategies using structured methodologies.
Operational Excellence and Clinical Support
Oversees day to day operations and clinical performance for the Special Procedures Department, including staffing effectiveness, competency validation, patient flow, and procedural readiness.
Provides nursing leadership support to the KSSH Pain Center and Surgery Partners’ ASC pain services teams for clinical workflows, competencies, and procedural readiness without direct supervisory authority.
Partners with scheduling, pre‑authorization, referral navigation, and perioperative teams to ensure timely patient access and optimized procedural throughput.
Leads supply standardization, equipment utilization, and procedural room efficiency initiatives across the pain services line.
Drives productivity, capacity management, and reliability through data‑informed staffing, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
Physician and Partner Engagement
Serves as a trusted clinical partner and liaison to pain management physicians, interventionalists, anesthesia providers, and ASC leadership.
Supports onboarding of new providers and expansion of procedural service offerings through standardized clinical processes and competency support.
Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and shared clinical governance to reduce variation and improve outcomes.
Financial and Strategic Leadership
Partners with finance and executive leadership to support budgeting, cost containment, and resource utilization strategies for the pain services line.
Leads initiatives that improve throughput, capacity, and utilization while protecting quality, safety, and patient experience.
Supports growth planning, service development, and strategic initiatives for procedural pain services across all sites.
Culture, Engagement, and Leadership Development
Builds a culture rooted in accountability, curiosity, psychological safety, and service excellence.
Coaches and mentors frontline leaders and staff to strengthen clinical practice and leadership capability across the service line.
Models servant leadership and supports transparent communication and team engagement.
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in the state of Kansas.
Minimum of five years of procedural, perioperative, interventional, or special procedures Kannada nursing leadership experience.
Demonstrated working knowledge of CMS, Joint Commission, AAAHC, and applicable state and federal regulatory requirements.
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams and quality improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Leadership, Business, or a related field preferred.
Experience in pain management, interventional procedural nursing, and or ambulatory surgery center operations preferred.
