Position: Surgical Tech
Schedule/Shift: 1.0 FTE
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday/MondayHours: 0630 - 1700
Compensation Range:
Surgical Tech I: $28.41 - $47.56/hour (Step Scale 1 - 20)
Surgical Tech II: $30.10 - $50.40/hour (Step Scale 1 - 20)
S.92/hour (Step Scale 1 - 20)
+ any applicable shift differential

Definition of Position Performs a variety of technical duties to assist the surgeon, patient and or team with surgical procedures.

Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure

Working Conditions
Inside environment, protected from the weather but not necessarily temperature changes. Subject to frequent exposure to infection, contagious disease, and hazardous materials and equipment. Occasionally subject to combative patients. Variable noise levels. Also subject to rapid pace, multiple stimuli, unpredictable environment, and critical situations.
Physical Demands/Traits
Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear
Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word
Perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes
Extend arms and hands in any direction
Seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands
Pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers
Able to lift/carry 50 lbs or more
Able to tolerate frequent prolonged standing/walking
Able to lift, position, push and/or transfer patients
Qualifications Education
Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited school or Surgical Technology Program.
Experience
Required: Must possess a minimum of one year current operating room experience (student experience allowed).
Licenses, Certifications, and/or registration.
Required: BLS
Desired: Certification as Surgery Tech
Equipment/Tools/Work Aides
Includes but is not limited to surgical instruments and equipment, video equipment, and sterilizers.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills
Ability to provide care for the patient’s age-specific, cultural physical and psychosocial well being during the perioperative phase.
Other
Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
