Utah Valley University invites applications for a Speech-to-Text Transcriber who is passionate about equitable access to education and communication. In this role, you'll support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students by using TypeWell techniques to provide real-time, accurate transcriptions of spoken content in a variety of settings-from classrooms and meetings to assessments and campus events. This position works closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure inclusive communication across campus. Operating under the direction of the Coordinator of Speech-to-Text Services, the transcriber upholds strict confidentiality, maintains high professional standards, and follows the TypeWell Code of Conduct. Summary of Responsibilities Provides Speech-to-Text Services to university students in class. Edits transcriptions. Performs audio transcription. Performs other job related duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related field of study OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling four years. Licenses/Certifications: Speech-to-text service provider employee must complete Certified TypeWell Transcriber (Novice Level) training and workshop provided by employer (UVU) prior to first day of employment. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge of computers and computer applications. Knowledge of ethical behavior. Skills in listening and English writing. Skills in interpersonal and public relations. Ability to type 60+ words per minute. Ability to capture meaning from spoken information. Ability to work in a school setting. Ability to work as part of an educational team. Ability to work independently. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions.
