Position Announcement Utah Valley University is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Flight Line Technician to support its dynamic School of Aviation Sciences. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft and ground support activities at the university's flight training facilities. The Flight Line Technician provides high-quality, personalized customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors while performing key responsibilities such as aircraft marshaling, fueling, towing, parking, hangar storage, and operating support vehicles.

This position is structured across three levels: Technician I, II, and III. All new hires start at the Technician I level. Eligibility for advancement to the next level is based on performance and requires a minimum of six months from the date of hire or most recent promotion. Each level advancement is accompanied by a salary increase. Summary of Responsibilities
Direct Aircraft Responsible for guiding, towing, parking, greeting and organizing aircraft that is arriving or departing from UVU's ramp. Tow planes to appropriate flight areas and hangars. Operate ground service equipment such as tugs, fuel trucks and transport vehicles. Must know how to direct pilots using appropriate aviation hand signals. Maintenance and Fuel Monitors fuel levels and maintains fuel inventories to make sure aircraft have the right amount of fuel for each flight. Ensuring fuel trucks are stocked and prepared to distribute fuel, checking the plane's oil level, performing quality control checks to make sure fueling is handled safely and efficiently and reporting any visible damage to aircraft. Line technicians also perform light maintenance, such as making sure internal and external aircraft lights are turned off. Hangars and Ramp Help with the upkeep of hangars and UVU ramp area. Technicians also maintain aircraft hangars so planes can be parked or stored. During inclement weather, line technicians help maintain walkways and ramp, so staff and students have a safe route to and from aircraft and they help de-ice aircraft. They must immediately report suspicious activity to security. Customer Service Help with customer service needs. For example, give staff and students directions, interact with dispatchers, converse with pilots and students who are entering or exiting the ramp. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation with a high school diploma, or equivalent, and one-year related experience; OR any combination of job-related experience and education totaling one year. May require additional certifications.
Preferred Qualifications: Education and experience totaling two years.
Licenses/Certifications: Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and pass the university's Defensive Driving Course while employed. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
