Job Title: CNC Machinist – Clean Climate Controlled Environment Location: Indianapolis, IN Job Type: Full-Time Pay Rate: $25 - $35 (depending on experience) 10% shift differential Shift: 2nd Shift | 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM | Monday–Friday Overtime Available
About the Opportunity First Call Direct Hire is recruiting CNC Machinists for a well-established job shop in Indianapolis, IN, specializing in precision machining of aerospace components. This is a role for skilled machinists who take pride in hands-on work, working with quality tools and tight tolerances in a clean, climate-controlled environment.
Position Summary We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists to set up and operate CNC lathes or mills to produce high-precision aerospace components. Candidates who value safety, craftsmanship, and teamwork will thrive in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines to meet blueprint specifications for aerospace components Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols with precision Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and minor program edits Monitor part quality and surface finish to meet aerospace industry standards Conduct first article and in-process inspections following job shop procedures Maintain a clean, organized work area adhering to safety and 5S guidelines Collaborate with quality and engineering teams on troubleshooting and continuous improvement Qualifications
High school diploma or GED CNC machining experience (less than 3 years considered) Proficient in setup and operation of CNC lathes and/or mills in a job shop setting Familiarity with Fanuc, Okuma, or Heidenhain controls Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and aerospace tolerances Strong understanding of GD&T and shop math Skilled in using precision measuring tools Dependable, detail-oriented, and a team player Preferred Qualifications
Experience in high-precision aerospace machining Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems Ability to edit G-code Willingness to work overtime Forklift or crane certification is a plus Benefits
