Summary:
As Director of Traffic Studies, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and analysts in delivering high-impact traffic studies for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will play a key role in business development, client engagement, and technical leadership, ensuring the highest quality of service and innovation in every project. General Responsibilities: Lead and manage traffic impact studies, corridor analyses, signal timing optimization, and multimodal assessments. Oversee the development and application of traffic simulation models (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, HCS). Serve as a technical expert and client liaison on complex transportation projects. Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. Collaborate with business development teams to identify opportunities, prepare proposals, and win new work. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation standards and guidelines. Represent the firm at industry conferences, client meetings, and public forums. Required Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. PE license required; PTOE certification strongly preferred. Required Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering, including leadership in a consulting environment. Proven track record of managing traffic studies and delivering results to clients. Strong business acumen and experience with proposal writing and client development. Proficiency in traffic analysis tools (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS) and GIS platforms. Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills. Preferred Experience: Extensive experience working with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), including familiarity with FDOT standards, procedures, and project delivery processes. Demonstrated success in managing FDOT-funded projects or serving as a consultant on FDOT contracts. Knowledge of FDOT’s Traffic Engineering Manual (TEM), Plans Preparation Manual (PPM), and other relevant guidelines.
