Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Program Coordinator for the Intercultural Center, which reports to the Office of the President. The Program Coordinator for the Intercultural Center is responsible for sustaining, developing and implementing programs, initiatives, and events that assist in building a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.

Since its opening in 2019, the Intercultural Center has been coordinating engagement opportunities that include: Co-curricular cultural programming Educational and cross-cultural dialogues Identity exploration opportunities Student leadership development and club advising Community and affinity network building Student mentoring, empowerment, support, and advocacy

Our efforts support the academic, social, and professional success of historically underrepresented campus community members, including but not limited to, People of Color, LGBTQIA+, first-generation, low-income, international, and religious minority members of Monmouth University. Additionally, we aim to build allyship and understanding across differences.

Furthermore, the IC promotes university-wide shifts towards diversity, inclusion, and respect by fostering a sense of shared responsibility for enacting equity within our diverse community of students, faculty, staff, administration, neighbors, and alumni. We do this through policy/practice consultation, campus climate assessment, professional development, grant-making/co-sponsorships, committee service, and general collaboration.

The Intercultural Center reports to the Office of the President.

This is an in person, on-campus, non-remote position. Duties and Responsibilities: Develops and coordinates varying scales of social, curricular, and co-curricular programming, including thematic events related to annual traditions such as Latinx Heritage Month, Black History Month, LGBTQIA+ History Month, and APIDA Heritage Month. Sustains collaborative partnerships with student organizations, university partners in both student and academic affairs, and community-based entities to maximize effectiveness and outreach of programs. Conducts the administrative duties and allocated budget management related to events and programming. Works closely with undergraduate and graduate student employees of the Intercultural Center to carry out the programmatic agenda of the center. Remains informed of national trends and best practices related to student programming and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Assists the Assistant Director in coordination of the LIFT mentoring program. Assists the Assistant Director in facilitating training to students and student staff teams on applicable diversity, social justice, and cultural competency programs. Represents the Intercultural Center on ad-hoc and sustained university-wide committees. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Two years of demonstrated experience working with underrepresented college students (e.g. students of color, LGBTQIA+ students, first-generation students, and low-income students) in program implementation and mentoring, as well as event planning, programming and promotion with and for students in a higher education environment, inclusive of undergraduate employment or graduate internship/assistantships in similar student-serving centers in higher education or community-based organizations. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills. Ability to work occasional evening hours and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in student affairs administration, higher education, social work, or a closely-related field. Basic graphic design skills in Adobe or Canva as well as event marketing experience.
