Director Of Admissions

This position serves as the Director of Admissions for the Home and is responsible for coordinating admissions and readmissions of all residents in addition to implementing and maintaining a public relations program with hospital discharge planners, outside agencies, and families. This position serves as a member of the admission/preadmission committee to determine appropriate staff to conduct admission/preadmission interviews, conducts all preadmission care plan sessions, schedules all admissions/preadmissions to the Home, working very closely with the multidisciplinary team and coordinates bed holds, ensuring all criteria are met. Minimum Qualifications Active list candidate on the New York State Department of Civil Service's Professional Career Opportunities (PCO), Health Facility Management Assistant option, OR Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. OR VIA Helps Program Non-Competitive Appointment A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in the administration of a health-related facility, which includes professional level work in human resources, business/finance offices, quality management, or functioning as the administrator of a health-related facility. A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience. Preferred Qualifications: One year of experience as the Director of Admissions at a nursing home. Additional Comments The filling of this position is pending budget waiver approval. This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.
