Network Security Engineer Onsite (Colorado Springs, CO)
An organization is seeking a
Network Security Engineer
to support the
Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program . This is an
onsite role in Colorado Springs, CO . The
C2BMC program
integrates the Missile Defense System and is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to plan ballistic missile defense operations. It provides a collective operational picture and allows dynamic management of networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. The program also plays a crucial role in system ground and flight tests, verifying and exercising current and future missile defense system capabilities. In this role, the candidate will provide technical support for assessing compliance of information systems with
DoD RMF standards , including reviewing, verifying, and validating required DoD IA RMF documentation and artifacts using
DoDI 8510.01/DoD Risk Management Framework . The candidate must have proven experience in developing
Cyber-secure network device configurations
(firewalls, switches, routers) and will be the primary Network Security Engineer supporting the C2BMC program. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
Plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network at operational sites.
Conduct independent research on networking and security topics and produce detailed reports.
Ensure devices are
STIG-compliant , properly hardened, and adhere to all required Cyber protocols.
Design security configurations and testing procedures.
Work collaboratively with other network and system engineers in a team environment.
Apply security design, development, and testing methodologies.
Document project design and development efforts thoroughly.
Collaborate with other departments to communicate network security requirements and ensure compliance.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:
Current/active in-scope
DoD issued SECRET security clearance .
5 years of related experience with a
Bachelors Degree in STEM , OR 3 years with a Masters degree, OR 1 year with a PhD, OR 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher
(e.g., Security+ CE, CASP+ CE, GSEC, SSCP, CND, GICSP).
Ability and willingness to travel to
Schriever Space Force Base
to support business needs and deployments.
Strong understanding of: OSI Model
TCP/IP
VLANs
UDP Multicast
Expertise in firewall configuration (e.g.,
Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto ).
Experience with
ACL design and operation .
Hands-on experience with multi-vendor switching and routing ( Juniper, Cisco ).
Knowledge and implementation experience of DoD security procedures, including
STIG compliance
and
system accreditation efforts .
WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
Scripting knowledge in
Python, Ansible, and PowerShell .
Strong understanding of
JUNOS .
Prior experience supporting the
C2BMC program .
