Overall 10+ Yrs. Experience The Tableau Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports to support the analytics and reporting needs. This role requires strong expertise in Tableau and related BI tools, as well as the ability to collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards, visualizations, and reports for labor statistics, workforce analytics, and compliance tracking. Work with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions. Optimize dashboards for performance, usability, and scalability. Ensure data integrity and accuracy by validating data sources and implementing governance standards. Create calculated fields, parameters, sets, and LOD (Level of Detail) expressions to meet complex reporting needs. Perform data preparation and blending using Tableau Prep or SQL queries. Collaborate with IT teams to integrate Tableau with databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or cloud-based data warehouses). Provide ad-hoc reports and analytics support for Department of Labor leadership and program managers. Train end-users and provide knowledge transfer/documentation for Tableau solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Tableau Developer or BI Developer. Strong proficiency in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Online. Expertise in SQL for querying and data preparation. Experience with data visualization best practices and dashboard optimization. Knowledge of ETL processes and working with large datasets. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work in an Agile environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
Tableau certification (Desktop Specialist, Certified Associate, or Certified Professional). Experience with Tableau Prep for data cleaning and transformation. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for data hosting. Knowledge of Department of Labor programs, workforce analytics, or government reporting standards.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
