The Advising Specialist supports high school students seeking to earn a college degree through in-person and virtual methods, in group and 1:1 settings. Responsibilities include: Direct Student Support – 70%
Deliver and ensure students access to College Possible's structured curriculum: Apply Smart, Be Financially Fit, Plan with a Passion and Purpose, and Transition Strong. Coach students to reach milestones: complete applications, submit financial aid forms, compare aid packages, and enroll. Complete enrollment conferences with high school seniors annually. Create and implement support plans based on curriculum and data. Maintain ongoing communication with students. Lead workshops on high school campuses. Meet with students 1:1 virtually and on campuses. Respond to student messages within two business days. Support recruitment through in-person events. Help students resolve obstacles by coaching self-advocacy and resourcefulness. Refer students to resources using digital tools like Salesforce, AI tools, and student portals. Caseload & Data Management – 20%
Track and record student progress using quantitative and qualitative measures. Enter and maintain data in Salesforce. Generate reports on student trends and milestones. Manage a caseload of approximately 150 students and up to two high school partners, scheduling meetings and managing time to meet KPIs. Secondary Responsibilities
Attend key events, college visits, and workshops. Represent College Possible at school sites and build relationships with staff and community partners. Support program initiatives as assigned. What You Bring
Bachelor's degree required. 1-3 years of experience mentoring, advising, or coaching high school or post-secondary students from underserved populations. Experience designing communication, activities, lesson plans, and resources for students. Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong written and virtual communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Mobility to travel to campuses and community sites. Emotional maturity and problem-solving skills. Interpersonal and coaching skills. Ability to interpret educational, technical, and governmental materials. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Physical Requirements
Lift up to 15 pounds. Stand or sit for at least 7 hours daily. What We Offer
