Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health Consultant)

About the Position:
This position is located in Honolulu, HI at Tripler Army Medical Center in the Department of Behavioral Health.
Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices. Duties Provide evidence-based individual and group interventions for a wide range of mental health and behavioral medicine conditions within a primary care or integrated healthcare setting. Assess acute mental health and behavioral medicine conditions. Maintain appropriate documentation of patient care in accordance with hospital standard operating procedures. Perform biopsychosocial evaluations using expert knowledge of clinical and clinical health psychology. Educate clinical staff and patients on the principles of primary care behavioral health and promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors. Conduct rapid assessments and developing brief, problem-focused treatment plans for beneficiaries with acute and chronic mental health and behavioral medicine conditions in a fast-paced clinical environment. Consult and collaborate effectively with primary care providers and other medical professionals on patient care, treatment planning, and behavioral health integration. Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives and participating in quality assurance activities related to behavioral health services. Utilize objective behavioral outcome measures to evaluate treatment progress and contribute to program effectiveness. Maintain accurate and compliant documentation of patient care in accordance with federal, DoD, DHA, and hospital regulations. Present cases and provide training on evidence based methods to peers.
Requirements Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so. This position requires a valid unrestricted state license as a doctoral level Psychologist.
