Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Exempt Location : Louisville, KY LDG Development and our affiliated companies are rapidly growing to produce higher levels of much-needed affordable housing nationwide. As we scale our operations and enhance financial efficiency, we seek an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial strategy, optimize funding sources, and ensure long-term financial sustainability. The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing financial planning, capital structuring, and compliance while driving initiatives that improve financial health and operational performance. POSITION SUMMARY : The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, including capital planning, financial reporting, investment strategy, risk management, and compliance. The teams reporting to the CFO include Accounting, Information Technology, Data and Reporting, Capital Markets, and Investor Relations. The CFO will work closely with the CEO, COO, Advisory Board, investors, lenders, and government agencies to ensure financial stability and funding optimization. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, problem solver, and proactive leader capable of implementing best-in-class financial processes and improving organizational cost efficiency. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Develop and execute a long-term financial strategy aligned with the company's growth and affordability mission. Lead capital structure planning to ensure an optimal debt-to-equity balance for project development. Secure funding through various sources, including: Traditional lenders (banks, private equity, institutional investors) Public financing programs (HUD, LIHTC, NMTC, Opportunity Zones) Government grants and subsidies for affordable housing Tax-exempt bonds, mezzanine financing, and community development funds Evaluate and recommend financial models for new development projects, acquisitions, and property management strategies. Assess and implement innovative financing solutions to maximize returns while keeping housing costs low. Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support strategic decisions. Develop financial models for project feasibility, proforma projections, and ROI analyses. Identify financial risks related to market trends, material costs, and regulatory changes, and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor construction cost controls, cash flow optimization, and procurement strategies to maximize cost efficiency. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including: Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the CEO and Board Investor and lender reports highlighting financial performance and project updates Tax filings and regulatory compliance reports, coordinating with auditors and legal teams Ensure adherence to GAAP and real estate finance accounting standards. Oversee compliance with housing regulations, including LIHTC, Fair Housing Act, and HUD standards. Manage relationships with auditors, tax consultants, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance and transparency. Lead and mentor teams in accounting, IT, data, reporting, capital markets, and investor relations, fostering professional development. Cultivate relationships with developers, public agencies, investors, and financial institutions to enhance funding and strategic partnerships. Represent the company in board meetings, investor presentations, and industry events, articulating financial strategies and performance. Drive technological improvements in financial operations, including ERP implementation, automation, and AI analytics. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred. 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in real estate development, construction, property management, or related fields. Expertise in financial risk assessment, project feasibility, and real estate asset management. Proficiency in financial modeling, cash flow forecasting, and investment analysis. Proven ability to develop and execute strategic financial plans to enhance profitability and efficiency. Outstanding leadership skills with experience building and managing high-performance teams. Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
